The small blossoms of Hepatica (Anemone hepatica) dotted the forest floor at the Rose Lake State Wildlife Area on Saturday. Aside from the occasional flash of red from a cardinal, these little flowers provided the only other colors than the browns, greys, and occasional green that still dominates the early spring woods. In a few weeks that will change, but for now these little bursts of color brighten up the forest floor.
