Last autumn, I photographed the tree above at Fenner Nature Center. The bright red leaves stood out so prominently against the blue sky and green foliage. I planned to go back throughout the year and photograph this tree in each season. I took a photo earlier this year in the winter when all the leaves were gone and a nice blanket of snow had fallen. However, I never had the opportunity to photograph spring and summer, as the tree was cut down as part of the important prairie habitat restoration at Fenner. I came across these photos the other night and I decided to merge the fall and winter photos together to make the picture above.
