I have always called these Michigan wildflowers "umbrella plants", which is one of the many names they bear. However, it appears the more common moniker is "may apple", which I have also heard them called. Regardless of their name, these wildflowers with their waxy green leaves have brought a welcome splash of color to the forest floor in the past few days.
