A couple weeks ago, I photographed these Scarlet Tanagers at Rose Lake. I know next to nothing about birds, so I had no idea what they were when I saw them. The male (above) is very bland compared to the brighter orange and red females (below). I cannot explain how bright and vibrant the red ones look in the wild. I think they would make a male Northern Cardinal look pale in comparison.
The males are the red ones, the females are the less spectacular ones. We seem to be seeing these more frequently than of old, in Barry Co.
