The Crisp Point teeters on the shore of Lake Superior in a remote area west of Whitefish Point. Several years ago, the lighthouse tower was all that still stood on this desolate shore, all the other buildings having succumbed to the encroaching waters of Lake Superior. The erosion almost destroyed the tower until the Crisp Point Light Historical Society raised the funds to reinforce the shoreline and reconstruct a new building at the base. If you are willing to take a bumpy ride on some rough seasonal roads, you can venture out to see this remote lighthouse (click here for directions).
