I spent several hours last weekend at Fenner Nature Center photographing the annual Apple Butter Festival. I snapped this shot of a crate of apples that would eventually end up in the big copper kettle used to cook down the apple butter all weekend long. After a terrible fruit crop failure last year because of several really warm weeks that allowed the fruit trees to start budding followed by a devastating cold snap, the apple crop this year exploded. Many apple farmers had record harvests, even leaving some apples to rot on the trees because they could not get them all picked in enough time.
