Mushroom

I am not a big fan of mushrooms as a food, but have no problem using them for the subject of a photograph.  I borrowed this one from Valerie the other day while she was cooking to shoot some photos of it.

St. Lawrence Market

The St. Lawrence Market was one of the more unique stops we made in Toronto.  If we lived there, I think we would spend way too much in the fresh meat section.  It was a very colorful place and I wish I would have had more natural light with which to shoot, but the overcast skies did not cooperate.

Summer Berries

The summer wild berry season has arrived in the Lower Peninsula, but appears a little slower in arriving up north.  I photographed these "black caps" at Fenner Nature Center a couple of days ago.  They just look so tempting, though most are not quite ripe at this point.

Colorful Jars

I decided to take a break from the trip photos to post a picture I took at home a few days ago.  Valerie had a bunch of jam and jelly on the counter and I thought it would make a good subject.

Campfire Cast Iron Cooking

I love to cook over a campfire with cast iron.  The eggs in the picture above got a little messy for the lack of a flexible spatula, which I remedied with a purchase from a local store.  They tasted great nonetheless.  The dutch oven photos below show a completely last minute creation.  I had some big beef country style ribs we had planned to grill over the fire.  I decided to cut up some potatoes and onions and slow cook them all together.  The meat was similar to a beef roast and the potatoes were very tender.
