There are multiple caves and big cracks in the rocks along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore caused by the never ceasing waves and weather. When the waves are really large on Lake Superior, they crash into the caves and cause a thundering echo. The photograph at the very bottom of this post shows a crack between a section of fallen cliff face and the cliff from which it fell. This was wide enough through which to navigate my kayak; however, right under the surface of the water was another rock on which I most likely would have gotten caught had I tried to squeeze through the gap.
