Urban Autumn Leaves

A few fallen autumn leaves on the sidewalks downtown Lansing.

First Presbyterian Chuech - Lansing, Michigan

Last night on my walk home from work, I noticed an interesting vantage point on the Capitol Mall from whence I could photograph First Presbyterian Church on Ottawa Street.  The sun's angle and the mostly blue skies highlighted the contrasting white spire and pediment.  The modern addition to the church also has an unique metal cross affixed to the side of the building that cast a shadow in the slowly setting sun.

Icy Step

This is one of the fancy new heated steps on the front of the Michigan State Capitol at work.  Even with all the snow we got on Sunday, the steps only had a thin layer of ice on them that melted away by the end of Monday.

Last Saturday, I took advantage of a crystal clear day, one of the first in a long time, and started out early to capture a time lapse of the sunrise with Lansing's iconic Eckert Power Plant.  After a long day in the field photographing elsewhere, I set up my time lapse equipment again to catch the sunset with the Boji Tower clock as the center of attention.  You mayview the time lapse video below.

Marshall Suloway Bridge

The skies turned cloudy last Sunday afternoon in Chicago, so I had to adjust for the darker settings and lower contrast.  I really like how this photo looks on my screen at home, but I have seen it on a couple different devices and it looks dark, so I would like input on if it is bright or dark to you.  This is the Marshall Suloway Bridge looking south down LaSalle Street toward the financial district and the Board of Trade at the very end of the street.

Snowy Chicago Street

This photograph was a complete accident the other night while I was wandering the streets of Chicago.  It is actually three photos merged together.  I had stopped at an intersection near the "L" to reset the aperture on my lens after taking some long exposures a few blocks back.  The camera was on its tripod, so the three photos were framed the same, just a little lighter each photo.  The snow was starting to fall and you can see some of the flakes illuminated by the streetlight and streaking across the photo as the wind tossed them around.  I never intended to keep the photos, but I stacked them on a whim when I got home and came up with this picture that I kind of like.
