Downtown Lansing, the old Knapp's department store building is undergoing a renovation. According to what I have read, the renovation will restore the building's Art Deco exterior with more modern materials. It had been getting pretty rough looking after years of disuse, but even then it still had a striking presence downtown. The photo above is of one of the tiles that remain in place on the stripped down exterior walls. I am glad that the originals were in good enough condition that they could leave them in place and work around them.
