Frosty Foggy Fenner

Yesterday, I dropped Valerie off at work and drove over to Fenner Nature Center for a few hours before going to the office.  According to the long range weather forecast, Friday looked to be the only clear day in the foreseeable future.  I wanted to take advantage of a few hours of sunshine despite it being a work day.  When I arrived at Fenner, the thermometer in the car read -9°F.  Fog from the nearby Red Cedar River with its much warmer water floated across the whole of Fenner, giving it a soft, hazy look wherever I turned.

One of the many sunset photos I have taken the last few days while hoping to catch a glimpse of the Pan-STARRS comet.  I do not think the comet or the clouds wish to cooperate with me!

Photos From Last Summer

I was flipping through some photos from a couple of our trips last summer and came across these two photos I really liked.  I am anxious for the arrival of warmer weather to travel again.  The top photo was on the beach at sunset along Lake Michigan in Cross Village.  The bottom photo is of an old outbuilding near the South Manitou Lighthouse on South Manitou Island.

Farewell February

February 2013 comes to a close today and the winter weather will soon make way for spring.  I have always liked winter, but after several months of it, I look forward to the warmer, longer spring and summer days.  I did not think that I would have as much time to get out and enjoy the snow this month, but I thankfully had many more opportunities than I had expected.  Even though the snow came and went sporadically, enough of it stuck around to enjoy.  That has not been the case for several years in recent memory.
